After literally years of contamplating, we finally bit the bullet and went to visit the local shelter for abandoned cats. We ended up taking a taxi home with two little kittens (both presumably born in May this year). Let me introduce to you: Muru and Usva.
Phew... After returning from Ulm, we headed to Finland for two weeks (collaboration at Aalto University and a workshop in Lapland). Then, we headed to Semmering with my sister's family for skiing. Having yet again stayed at home for a couple of days, I attended a winterschool in Kirchberg in Tirol. Since then, I have now been in Vienna for a bit more than a week, trying to get myself back into shape for the Vienna marathon which seems to be approaching faster than I'd hope for. In a week I will be heading to Barcelona for a couple of days, which means that now was a great opportunity to post something over here.
In the meanwhile we got an article published in Nano Letters: Scaling Properties of Charge Transport in Polycrystalline Graphene. If you are interested in this work, but don't have access to the paper, have a look at my publication list for a download link.
Here are a couple of my favorite shots from the picture-a-day project for 2013 since the last post:
